View IPC code on the web ... but in my language Reply with quote
Hi Bruno,

Now when MP shows the contextual menu "IPC definition code on the web", it goes to
http://www.wipo.int/classifications/fulltext/new_ipc/ipc7/theIPCcode.htm

You know that there exist a new IPC8 with a new url, which can be:

http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8/?lang=en
http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8/?lang=fr
http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8trans/es/

sorry I can't find the german version of ipc8

Question: Could MP offer "View IPC code on the web" ... but in my language?

... I'm suppossing that a user could have in File/Parameters/Language the choice en/fr/de/es

----
Also please activate this menu in ALL the IPC codes. Now it only works in "IP Class"

Regards and thanks for this new MP8 version!

Hi Bruno,

IPC8 is running a time ago, so it should be used by MP to show the meaning of IPC codes ... if possible in the language of the user Cool

---

But, in any case, MP should show all the relevant urls about classifications in the Top menu > Help "?", at least:
- ECLA
- IPC
- US Classification
- US => IPC concordance

I send you the relevant urls

About European Classification (ECLA)
http://v3.espacenet.com/eclasrch

About International Patent Classification (IPC)
IPC8 - english: http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8/?lang=en
IPC8 - french: http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8/?lang=fr
IPC8 - spanish: http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8trans/es/

About United States Patent Classification System (USPC)
Alphabetical Index to the USPC: http://www.uspto.gov/go/classification/uspcindex/indextouspc.htm
List of USPC Class Numbers and Title:

USPC search and US-IPC concordance: http://www.uspto.gov/go/classification/

USPTO Tools and Manuals

... and any other url people suggest

regards

Button [Search ECLA] Reply with quote
Hi Bruno,

I have a new asking about classification codes because they are one of the most important keys to make MP much more user friendly:

You know that Espacenet has an ECLA search facility http://l2.espacenet.com/eclasrch to help users identifying the best ECLA groups for a topic. This is a very good tool to execute before beginning a search, and it really saves time centering the search. I use it a lot.

Now users of MP have a [Test my request] button to know how many results has a predefined search strategy. This is a good tool but it does not help to know if the results will be centered or not.

In fact most of times the REAL problem is to know what codes to choose ... or if there would be a code covering a topic...

So it would be great if you can integrate the ECLA search in the search form with a button [Search ECLA]. This button could be located on left of Title field. So the user types some keywords in the title, clicks on the button and then MP opens a navigator page with the best ECLA codes.

... I think that it is really easy to implement and it would be a good improvement ... what do you think?

Regards

Hi Juan I did what you mentioned all the time I used espacenet to find out the ecla code and used MP to do the search but I never can give any good idea to Bruno. You are really the source of good Idea to MP. I have an idea for uspc for MP. Can Bruno implement the function of IPC for USPC. The function I mentioned is when you click on the IPC code it will display the IPC code title in the display below. I found the information for USPC class title http://library.queensu.ca/webeng/USPC_Class_Titles.pdf. Hope this can be any help.

regards,

bc

Hi Bruno and Bruce,

WIPO has a "little" utility but really it is a "killer application" to connect different databases using an IPC Code as the link key.

It is called "IPC Bridge" and I think that probably can be linked from MP. Wink

It shows a little window with many possibilities for any IPC code. The IPC Code has to be clicked in WIPO IPC classification available at http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8/?lang=en. The offered possibilities are:

- Link to IPC8 National versions in Czech, Dutch, German, Japanese and Spanish (we start from the English version)

- Link to do a IPC search of the code in the following databases: PCT, Espacenet, USPTO and JOPAL

- Link to correspondence to other classifications: USPC and ECLA.

---
As an example, if we like to work with IPC Code= H01T13/46, first we have to reformat to "H01T0013460000".
Then the url of the IPC Bridge window is:
http://www.wipo.int/classifications/ipc/ipc8/popup.htm?ipc=H01T0013460000&level=a&edition=e20070101;a20070101;c20060101

So my asking is: Could you link any IPC code taken from Mpatent > Analysis > IPC > [right click] IPC Bridge > to open this window?

If you do it, this is what I'm asking when I say "View IPC code on the web" ... but in my language!!

... Bruno, try it please!!! ... Very Happy

regards

Hi Bruno,

According to my criteria, I think that there are two steps to do:

1- Link to IPC8 instead of IPC7 (IMPORTANT and URGENT)
2- personalise the language (Not so important - urgent)

So I'd like to ask you to concentrate in linking to IPC8 asap

thanks

Done

Quote:
2- personalise the language (Not so important - urgent)

Done : EN/FR by default and ES if you have ES translation file default.po

Available in the next revision
