| Downloading process gets blocked |
|
Hi Bruno,
Many times the MP downloading process gets completely blocked, I mean, ALL the threads stay with state "Request" but none of them progress.
At the moment the only solution is to click on "cancel" button to stop all the downloading process, then
Menu > Project > Add patents from list >
and select
/Matheo/Patent/requests/project_name/Last_Search.txt
but this should be the exception, not be the general rule.
You have implemented a SKIP button/mechanism in Matheo Web that restarts/unlocks the blocked threads and continues the downloading process, I appreciate it a lot, it saves a lot of time.
Otherways the downloading process is running only at half of the speed because of the blocked threads.
So it is a very good solution to this situation. Could you implement in Matheo Patent?

Hi Juan,
In fact, MP is not blocked but it "sleep" while few second to let EPO server to close session. I do it because I must respect the connection on EPO server.
But I can add a button Skip also.
I note in my ToDo List ! _________________ Regards / Cordialement

Hi Bruno,
Yes I agree that when connecting from the office with a good bandwith, MP "sleeps" more than when I connect from home with less bandwith.
So just to clarify that the situation that I'm reporting is about MP getting blocked forever... so then the only solution is to Cancel ... so I really prefere to SKIP!
---
now I'm thinking that according to your comment, MP downloading process is intelligent enough to respect the maximum Espacenet downloading limits.
So then why not to include also a minimum frequency? I mean why not to detect partially or totally blocked downloading processes automatically?
e.g. If it is not time to "sleep" and if a thread has no answer from USPTO/Espacenet in 1 min, then SKIP it automatically and continue with the following patent!
what do you think? This "intelligent SKIP" would save a lot of time!
Many thanks _________________ Juan Carlos Vergara |

Hi Juan,
You talk about "TimeOut". But for the moment my d/l engine don't know how to process that.
But it's in my ToDo List since a long time :'( _________________ Regards / Cordialement

Hi Bruno,
I have just downloaded the 070710 revision with the "skip" and "skip all" buttons. Thanks for this improvement.
but ... which is the difference between them?

Hi Juan,
"Skip" : bypass only requests in progress
and
"skip all" : bypass requests in progress and delete the patent queue. _________________ Regards / Cordialement

Hi Bruno, I asked you the following:

Could you link the Skip button to a timer? (the timer should be inactive by default)
If the user activates the Timer+Skip = "Skip every xx minutes" => the six downloading threads are cleaned out every xx minutes and the donwloading process continues with the threads 100% active.
This button is (more or less) equivalent to my previous asking. It would be very useful when a user notes that one by one threads get blocked and after xx minutes all the downloading process is running with just one or two threads ... or it is blocked completely.
So it is better to have a [timer+Skip] than watching personally the downloading status every xx minutes ... and then execute the [Skip].
