[FAQ] Patent scoring method

I would like to ask you further information about " incorporates a user classification system"
and "defines a personalized scoring method " features. How does it work? Score has to be done manually one by one or is it possible to define a score criteria which will be applied automatically for all of them? What kind of criteria?

Dear Tatiana

The user classification system is performed by the creation of specific groups (right click on a patent -> Add to a group -> new group)

The selection of patents can be made one by one (ctrl + click on the patent), or can be made for patents matching criterias (keywor, IPC code, ...) with the local search engine (and then select the patents with Ctrl + click -> Add to a group -> new group or existing one).

The scoring method is based on four scoring parameters:
- Accessibility of the technology
- The Cost to absorb, copy, improve and exploit the technology
- Business impact for your company
- Risk of infringement in the market

The user can define a figure for each parameter, and can ponderate each parameter for the whole patents set.

For the patents selection, use Ctl + Click one by one or use the local engine

If I can add my comment, this is the method to use "Scoring".

First Step :
Go to the menu "Scores" and "Define Relative Importance" and for each "Axis" (Cost, Risk, Accessibility, Business Impact) select the importance from the point of view of YOUR company.
Note : "Define Relative Importance" table affect ALL the scores of all patents.

Second Step :
Select patents and use the right click on it. Go to "My Evaluation" and for each "Axis" choose a score.
Note : "My Evaluation" affect ONLY the scores of patents selected.

What you must know :
- Scoring is calculated with this method :
Score = (Accessibility Note) * MyEvaluation (A) + (Cost Note) * MyEvaluation (C) + (Business impact Note) * MyEvaluation (B) + (Risk Note) * MyEvaluation (R)

- You can't add "Axis"
- Create Group is not necessary to apply a Score
- If you "Right Click" on header on the main view you can show/Hide all columns concerning "Scoring"
