How to DELETE a patent? Reply with quote
Hello to all

After doing a search, then I usually like to filter bad results ...

If I delete a patent with [DEL], it SEEMS to be deleted but it is just in this session.

If I SAVE - QUIT
Then I call MPatent - OPEN the project ...

- the number of the patent is still there, with a RED SQUARE meaning that the patent data is not downloaded ... so without bibliographic data
- but there is still the abstract and the associated image
- AND I CAN NOT DELETE THIS ITEM

What could I do to definitely delete a patent? perhaps I am forgetting something?

---
At least in my experience, if I delete the main patent of a patent family, the situation is the same:
- after reopen the project, ALL the members of the family are there, with the RED SQUARE, without bibliographic data but with abstract and image (if there were previously, of course)

Hi,

You don't have made a wrong manipulation Wink . Delete action just made status of patent "Downloaded=False" (red square). So no file (Desc, Claims, etc...) are really deleted. But if you made an export all information about the patent deleted will not be present.

Now I understand better

BUT at least to me (and sure for many people) it is not equivalent:

a) a patent not dowloaded = "Downloaded=False" (red square) = pending to decide if it is ok to download

b) a patent DELETED intentionally because it is NOISE

A first quick solution (but not the RIGHT solution) is to solve this case as IF IT WAS JUST A VISUALIZATION MATTER. I mean:

Idea I think that it will be easy to you to define two visualization modes, to switch ON/OFF by the user.

ON: By default, you see patents with red and green squares
OFF: You see just the green squares (you don't see the patents with "Downloaded=false")

... sorry, I don't have the right solution at the moment ... you shoud differentiate the two cases.

I think that a good idea to give two states for patent but it's not easy to install it. So i think we keep only the delete option (erase file) in the next revision.

... If you close MP and then enter again and call the project ... are the patents deleted?

When I reenter ... all the deleted patents are with a red square.

sorry, but this is my reality:

I execute MP
I open a new search
I delete the patent on the top with [DEL]==> it dissapears
Then I save my search
I quit
I execute MP again
I open the project again
The deleted patent is on the top in red

I can repeat this procedure, all the times is the same situation
Question Question Question Question Question

In fact, you have right both Smile

All the patents which are not in a family can be directly deleted.

The classification of the families being done dynamically according to stored information and so they reappear.

So the right question is:

How to delete a patent family?

Could be something like [Shift]+[Del]?

Merci pour tout
