Groups should apply to ALL members of a family Reply with quote
Hi Bruno,

I'm in the process of making groups in a large set of patents.

I do searches => I obtain results => I add the results to a group

Situation:

- According to my knowledge, when MP shows the results of a search, it always shows the "main patent" and the members that comply to the search.

- Usually not all the members of the same patent family comply to the same search. Usually patent members without title/abstract never appear, so they are not assigned to any group.

- So now when doing the grouping process, not all the members of the same family are assigned to a group

Suggestion:

a) I think that the grouping should apply to all the members of the same family by default (If I assign a patent to a group, all the members should be assigned too)

b) If this is not possible, it should be available a function to "transmit" automatically all the groups from the main patent to all the members of the same family.

Thanks

Hi Bruno,

Now in october 2006 I'm in the same point as in nov 2005... you did not answer then, I suppose it is a complicated matter.

MP does not have ANY AUTOMATIC WAY to mark FAMILIES but just INDIVIDUAL PATENTS from a local search...

When filtering ... I have dispersed members of families marked as favorites, but I'd like to be MARKED the ENTIRE FAMILY to follow the cleaning process of a search in a logical way... Confused ... any idea? Does anyone have any recommendation?

Could it be possible to FORCE MP to SHOW ALL MEMBERS of a family if just one of them comply to a local search criteria?

Perhaps the mechanism is to include a box in the local search form. When this box is marked then MP "shows all members" of a family?

I'm looking exactly for the same mechanism that MP uses with Espacenet "Download Patent Family"... but LOCALLY in MP.

I mark intensivelly this box "Download Patent Family". Otherways the results from Espacenet will be always INCOMPLETE. The same rule/problem apply in local searches.

please think about it, if solved that would be great.

Regards
