OPS2 search didn't obtain all the search results |
|
Hi,
I tried to download a large group of patents. My OPS2 search looked a bit like:
"TA any (a,b,c) or AB any (d,e,f) or TI any (g,h,i)"
The "test my request" function suggested it would get 20,000 patents.
When I ran the search I got about 10% of that number (only 2100 patents). MPatent seemed to think it had finished (or OPS had simply stopped sending the data???).
I tried to solve the problem with the "add patents" option.
Search 2 was "TA any (a,b,c)"
Search 3 was "AB any (d,e,f)"
Search 4 was "TI any (g,h,i)"
Eventually I got 17000 patents.
My question is:
Why didn't the first long search get all the results?
How can I be sure that the three short searches got all the results?
I understand that OPS2 "test my request" is not meant to be completely accurate, so I'm not worried that I got fewer results that the "test my request" number. I'm worried that I cannot verify that I got all the results.
Kind regards,
Tim |

Dear Tim,
MPatent is not really made to download 20 000 patents. We try to explain to all users that we respect non Bulk-Downloading.
But concerning your query, you must know that OPS gives only first 2000 patents so it's normal that you don't get 20 000 patents.
Try to split your request and MP will get all patents available. _________________ Regards / Cordialement
