Abstract There has been a spurt in soil remediation technologies throughout the world during last few decades in response to the growing concern for deteriorating soil environment. The analysis of patent databases has of late come to be recognized as a potent means to gain insight into the trends of development in any given technology field. It is of interest to review the status of these soil remediation technologies spread across many countries by various stakeholders through the techniques of what is commonly referred to as "patent mapping". The visualization through graphical and physical representation is presented to throw light on relative strength and interests of various stakeholders in various aspects of these technologies and also the key technologies that have received attention so far.
Competitive Intelligence through such patent analysis is being used by many to plan their future research efforts strategically, evaluate the strength of their own patent portfolio relative to its competitors, and identify potential opportunities for licensing as well as strategic partnerships throughout the globe.
Matheo Patent Software has been used for the analysis with permission from the software owners which is available for commercial and academic use under license from the owners.
