First an introduction:
Patent numbering is a quite complex field  Searching by "Patent number" is not so evident. If we center the discussion just in Espacenet:
- PATENTS must be searched using County Code + numbering (without kind of document code at the end)
- UTILITY MODELS must be searched using Country Code + numbering + Utility Model Kind of Document
- DESIGN PATENTS in US must be searched using Country Code + D + numbering + S
Some examples of valid numberings:
Patents: US5000000, WO0164765, EP1384926
Utility Models: ES1058190U, DE202004008798U, DE1939419U, CN2165069Y
US Design Patents: USD505466S

Now the problem:
MP has an advanced function "Add patents from list" that runs ok but IT IS NOT INFORMATIVE, I mean that now a user must concentrate in the edition of the patent numbers list. If some numbers of the list fail, then the user must investigate which one failed and why, this is not evident at all.
Failing in one or more patent numbers in a long list is quite probable, mainly if the patent numbers list comes from other database NOT Espacenet. Then the numbering can be different, eg:
- leading zeroes up to a number of digits
- leading 2 or 4 digits to use after year 2000 (eg 03 versus 2003)
- especially japanese patents can have very different numberings depending on the source database
----
Now the proposal:
I think that MP could show a TABLE or similar showing the numbers of the "Add patents from list" and eg. a green/red mark or a "1/0" if Espacenet has such a patent or not.
This utility would be quite time saving for people importing patents from lists.
Of course it is enough to have this new utility after the releasing of MP 7.0 !!

Hi Bruno, this utility would be really of high value to people importing patents from lists... is it possible to you to do something on this point?

Hi Juan,
I will take a look for this option. I have to work now on the OPS V2 and MP9.0. More options will be available for Esp@cenet.
Meanwhile I note on my ToDo List your good idea !
